Dorms Close Over Thanksgiving Break
DePauw University dorms will be closed come Tuesday night. Students must apply with Campus Living to be granted access to their dorm over Thanksgiving vacation. Assistant Director of Campus Living Alison Reuschlein says academic buildings and campus eating facilities will lock their doors as well. Reuschlein explains what students will have to do for food over the break.
REUSCHLEIN: "Most of the eating facilities on campus, including the hub, will close on Tuesday evening and so students will need to make arrangements to sort of either visit restaurants that are around campus; do some grocery shopping in advance. On the Friday of thanksgiving break at noon, our resident assistants will be running a shuttle to Walmart for students and it will leave in front of the UB at noon on Friday."
Students’ Tiger Cards will still work as a payment option at assorted restaurants around Greencastle.
DePauw Loses Facilities Management Director
A late Friday afternoon email to DePauw faculty and staff announced a surprise departure. Facilities Management Director Ted Fares accepted a similar position at Eastern New Mexico University and a search for his replacement will begin immediately. DePauw Vice President for Finance and Administration Brad Kelsheimer credited Ted Fares with reducing facility costs by one million dollars during fiscal year 2010. Fares was also responsible for several major building projects since arriving at DePauw in 2006. The University is entering into a new phase of planning and building in the near future. President Brian Casey released a new Master Plan this fall and fundraising is being secured before the start of construction. For the time being, the Master Plan will have to go forward without a Director of Facilities Management.
