Phi Kappa Psi Harassment and Forum
Vice President of Student Life, Cindy Babington, sent out an email to DePauw students and faculty alerting them that headway had been made regarding the alleged harassment at Phi Kappa Psi fraternity this past weekend. On Saturday, a student reported that he had been verbally and physically harassed regarding his sexuality. Babington said that a suspect has been identified and is a student at another school who was visiting a friend who was a member of the fraternity.
DePauw Public Safety has requested that the suspect come to campus for an interview regarding this incident. Witnesses have also been identified and will be interviewed to provide additional information. The information will be forwarded to the Putnam County prosecutor's office to be vetted for potential charges. The suspect will also be issued a "no trespass" order to campus.
There will be a community forum on campus climate sponsored by Student Government and moderated by President Brian Casey to be held on Sunday, November 4, at 7 p.m. in the Union Building Ballroom.
